Alessandra, a forty-year-old daughter of Rome’s upper class, discovers that her father, a wealthy lawyer in the capital, has become a compulsive gambler.

Tormented by an unresolved relationship with her father, she decides to save him at all costs. Soon, she realizes that the only way to do so is by staying by his side as she never had before, eventually falling ill with the same affliction: gambling.

But while her father, a seasoned man, manages to overcome it, Alessandra falls into a vortex of self-destruction, from which she will only emerge by questioning her entire life, starting with her relationship with her father, which she resolves in an unexpected ending.
